About Derek Gratza-Wells

Derek Gratza-Wells centers his practice on complex commercial litigation, medical malpractice, and criminal defense. He has counseled clients through all stages of civil litigation and prides himself on providing practical advice tailored to the client’s individual goals. Before joining Libby Hoopes Brooks & Mulvey, Derek was an associate attorney at a large regional insurance defense firm. His experience working with both plaintiffs and defendants has made him a more capable and practical attorney.

Following law school and before he began actively practicing, Derek served as a law clerk for the Honorable Gabrielle Wolohojian at the Massachusetts Appeals Court before her elevation to the Supreme Judicial Court. As a clerk, Derek assisted with legal research and drafting opinions on dozens of civil and criminal appeals, three of which were later upheld by the Supreme Judicial Court.

Derek graduated summa cum laude from Suffolk University Law School, where he also served as Editor-in-Chief of the Suffolk University Law Review and was named one of four Outstanding Law Students for his graduating class.
